About the Opportunity

Now in its fifth year, the program has offered local school-leavers the unique chance to make a start on their working lives with training in their field of choice with Cowra Council for a full year.

We are is seeking highly enthusiastic and suitable applicants to fill 2 Trainee positions within Council's Infrastructure and Operations Department. 

In this role the successful applicants will assist in providing high level service within the Roads Section, while successfully completing a 12 month traineeship including on-the-job and formal training.  We are seeking a recent school leaver with good communication skills and a high attention to detail. 

Duties include activities working within the teams in Roads Maintenance and Construction, which will include concrete and asphalt work, Traffic Control, minor maintenance, manual handling, general labouring along with operation of small plant and equipment associated with the role. 

The successful applicants must be physically fit, have an understanding of the importance of WHS.  We are looking for reliable and motivated candidates with a  ‘can do’ work ethic and ability to work positively within a team. 

Successful applicants will undertake a Certificate II in Civil Construction. 

These twelve month traineeships start in February 2018 through to February 2019 with all study completed through TAFE NSW.
